The Corporation, Shelton Hannig, Inc., was chartered December 1, 1960, as an Indiana Corporation. The Corporation formed to succeed individual business of Shelton Hannig, which started April 1, 1960. Shelton Hannig, architect, practiced in Terre Haute, Indiana, from 1949 through the formation of Shelton Hannig, Inc., in 1960, working for the leading building contractor, Glen W. North Construction Company, Inc. Shelton Hannig, Inc., performed industrial construction for Indiana State University and other commercial and industrial building projects in the community
The firm soon moved from its rented facilities into permanent headquarters, and the company acquired a yard and storage equipment site in Terre Haute and expanded its territory of operation to the surrounding counties. Other corporations were formed for the continued practice of architecture independent of construction (Construction Consultants, Inc.) as well as for the purpose of combined design-build work (Marsh, Inc.)
In January, 1988, Mr. B.W. Biddle (formerly with Kettlehut Construction, Inc., of Lafayette, Indiana) purchased the Corporation. Effective March 1, 1988, Mr. Biddle became President, and the company name was amended to Hannig Construction, Inc. Mr. Biddle brings to the Corporation experience in the industry in areas of contract management, construction management, design-build, cost estimating, maintenance management, labor management and equipment management.
